The Chaos series of mods have a long history of successful releases, dating all the way back to Quake 2;

We have been actively releasing Internal Release builds for a year now (we're currently at IR #11), and we have posted various videos and screenshots on our web site, forums, and social sites to show how far we've come. Including this thread on our forums which contains various YouTube videos:

    Update: the same team listed in the above post is still active on this mod project. We have continued to release internal test builds, and we are now up to #22. Hopefully start doing public test releases first half this year. 

    Our latest build includes a prototype hoverboard (not bad for a mod of a pre-alpha game with no vehicle support).

    Our grapple continues to improve. This version even bends around game world objects

    For now we're still looking at this as a mod for a free game, but we still chat about making a stand-alone game on Unreal Engine if a couple/few more key people join up.

    Few things I'd like to see Chaos pursue include VCTF, co-op play vs monsters, and more vehicles.
