Quick mask grid problem

Hello guys, for some reason the checker pattern which appears while editing quick mask wont go away after switching to using quick mask mode even though in tutorials it goes away .I tried checking the settings but was unable to find anything use full
Please help me:(

Pressing Y will get rid of the mask.

I dont want to get rid of the quick mask just the checker patter that is appearing in the using quick mask mode

You can't unfortunately, but the quick mask needs some love on our side.
