Unreal terrain.spline blending. Help!

At 1:20 what is that called when you blend the terrain with the road spline? I would kill to know how to do that on my current project for work.

If any one can direct me to a good resource for UE4 environment tutorials I would greatly appreciate it (any thing other then digital tutors). The main reason I ask is to try and find some resource that is more accelerated. I'm new to environment work and I have been supporting our environment team at the office.

    The simplest way to have splines blend with your terrain/landscape is just to have an alpha masked material. You can do that any which way you want to, having it blur out the edges or having a more splotchy mask that makes it look like there's debris or rubble on the side of your paths or roads. For splines in particular it really helps to also paint some fitting texture(s) underneath, so it doesn't just jump from grass to road, but from grass to mud to road etc.
