3DS Max 2015: Layers

Hey guys,
I Google'd this, but maybe I was looking in the wrong area. I started using layers in max, to sort out all my parts on my model. But once I open the dialogue box with the layers, my keyboard shortcuts stop working. The F keys don't work anymore or arrow keys. Ect. Not even Ctrl+Z works. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? I have to start max again, to get the short-cuts to work again. Any ideas?
