Hand Painted Textures [ crit/feedback request ]

I've been working on hand painted textures recently and I thought it'd be a good time to go looking for some crit/feedback on two of my more recent efforts.

I feel like both of these are lacking a polish (particularly the wood, which is more of a first pass)? I'm always a little but lost on when to call things 'done'.

They really look the part I must say. I think the main art to repeating textures, personally, is making sure they don't look repeated.
There are some points on the metal sheeting where the edges could do with some defining. While you might want to look at the welded over/bolted on panel as it makes it look clearly repeated.
I took the liberty of doing a quick (scuzzy) draw over of the wood planks of where the uplifted plank showed up the repeating texture most.

    Hope this helps!

I think your wood could do with some more highlights in some areas and some subtle greens/purples perhaps; and darker crevices. You said your wood is only a first pass but I painted over a bit anyway.

The metal could do with much stronger specular highlights.
