3DSMAX - Projection Modifier Problems

First time i'm using the projection modifier to create a normal map and
I seem to have some weird issues...

I've created a lamp, started with the low poly version and basically duplicated it and changed it into a high poly model / added details in 3DSMAX.

After that, I simply placed them on the 0,0,0 xyz location and added the projection modifier to the low poly model via "render to texture"

When the projection modifier has been added, I'm basicly expecting a clean box around the object, however, it's completed blown up and almost "unfixable"

I've tried the same technique on a simple sphere, and then it seems to be working perfectly, so its obvious there is something wrong with my lamp.

However i have NO clue what possibly could be wrong.. anyone else familiar with this issue ?
