Graffiti and 'Fair Use'

Hi, I am working on a city scene and would like to add some graffiti to it.
After a quick search on the internet I found so many terrific pieces that are so much better than anything I could do.
I looked around as to what constitutes 'Fair Use' for such a case.
Of course I would not claim the graffiti as my work in my piece and state that it is not my art. Giving specific credit however becomes tricky as that information is generally not available and in some cases might cause problems for the artist if the art was produced illegally.
What do you think?
Do you paint your own graffiti or is it OK to use sources from the internet?

I can imagine that for a commercial project all work would have to be custom.
This is for a personal/portfolio project.
