Hi.

I have imported in a static mesh from 3ds max to UDK and the static mesh has really visible faceted edges. This is a problem because the mesh does not hold the aesthetic qualities I am aiming for. In the image below you can see a screenshot example.

When I exported the mesh from 3ds max I made sure I clicked all the right boxes in the exporter, which were: smoothing groups, tangents and binormals and triangulate.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before and could offer some tips on how to overcome it.

Thankyou

Are you using just one light? Change it to Dominant Directional Light Movable

    In "Cascade Shadow Maps"

Whole Schene Dynamic Shadow Radius 2048
Num Whole Scene Dynamic Shadow Cascades 10
    Cascade Distribbution Exponent 10

And see if you notice any change.

Thankyou for your reply kw71 but I found out what it was. I didn't had a smooth group to the object before I exported it in 3ds max. Once I added a smooth group the problem fixed.
