xnormal error with cage

hey all!

I'm dusting off my xnormal skills, haven't done this in about a year. I'm getting an error when I try to bake with a cage that says the cage does not have the same number of vertices as the lowpoly mesh. Problem is, they do. :(

I used the push modifier in 3ds max to make the cage.

also, I did google this and I found this thread :

I tried this solution and it did nothing :(

it is xnormal v3.18.4.37652

thanks in advance! I hope this is something simple that I'm overlooking :(

    thanks for the response!

I actually switched over to .smb format for the bake and it's all working fantastically.

Nice working on fixing the problem. Just a note for future reference in case anyone else reads this, using the Push modifier in 3ds Max to create your cage can cause problems a lot. Usually if you've got geometry more complicated than simple quads, or essentially some N-Gons somewhere in your model somewhere the push modifier is going to fuck it up and create more vertices. Try to use the push modifier first and see if it works because that'll save a lot of time, but if it doesn't just push and pull faces and that's the most safe way to do it. :)
