Maya 2014 Modelling Toolkit not preserving UV's help

I have a plane with a texture in my scene, I can edit the plane adding edges, verts etc and with Preserve UV's ticked I can move the verts with little to no movement of the texture as expected.
However switching to use the modelling tool kit cutting edges then moving verts it does not preserve the UV's instead I have to come out of modelling toolkit and move them as I would normally.
Any solutions? thanks
