3ds max material error?

I am making highpoly grass and when i throw a material on it i get these weird tips only on one side of the grass

Anyone know a solution?

Those tips look like the pulling poles of a turbosmoothed mesh. Check if you have a poly right at the very top of the grass. That poly might be a different material or color.

i do have a poly at the top but i dont understand why it would be a different colour
