3ds max - command panel - save rollouts

So the only things i ever use in the Modify/Command Panel is Edit Geometry, Smoothing Groups, Mat IDs and the Edit Edges/Vertex etc. tabs.

I never need Soft Selection, Vertex Colours, Nurms etc. Although every time I hide/collapse these and switch between sub-objects they come back..

has anyone else been annoyed by this or know of a solution??

You can drag them down by dragging on their headers. I just drag the ones I use the most up, works a treat. Not that it'd hurt for them to sort out the scroll-a-thon that the command panel is, ofcourse.

I swear I tried that but they just kept loosing their order..
I'll give it another go and see though

I drag the command panel out so it's two rows and use a lot of custom shortcuts.

This is the only screenshot I can dig up without putting more effort into it... but something like this:

(I also use a custom script to toggle off the bottom bars and replace it with GMT, I do that when I switch between modeling and animation workflows. In case you where wondering what was going on).

Illusive: It's important to realise this is set differently for each sub-object mode, so unless you want things jumping around you can set them all up somewhat similarly.

ok so i set it up the way i like but when i change to say elements then back to polys the menus are not how i left them
i guess this is just something i'll have to live with

Huh, I've hot keyed out the ribbon, might be nice to have it at the bottom instead of the track bar. I take it you've made two .prefs and just load them up on the fly? Or macro'd through the process of setting the options?

Shall be stealing that thought.
