#model_design is an internet chat room ("channel") maintained by some of the community modelers and skinners. It is not directly affiliated with Polycount, but you'll often many of us there.
It's meant to be a hangout and a place to trade techniques and information, but it's not an excuse to not learn how to do things yourself. If you need to ask for help, please do so politely. No-one is obligated to respond to you.
#model_design is very informal, so very often no-one will be discussing modeling, or even games. You may or may not find what you are looking for. Repeatedly asking questions or spamming the channel will not "help the discussion get back on topic" and will not be appreciated.
Just like on the boards, it's probably a good idea to just sit around and watch the channel for a while and get a feel for the flow of the conversation. Using a real internet chat client helps with this. Visit the IRC Help web site and check out the mIRC software and the IRC Tutorial linked there for more information.
We also provide a Java applet that runs in your web browser to allow you to connect to the channel.
